Webheads Convergence 2009 (May 22-24)

Steering Committee

ATTENTION:

Countdown: Less than ONE WEEK to go (thanks for the timers!)

Here's a link: http://www.clocklink.com/gallery.php?category=COUNT  (Teresa)

See if you like this combination! Maybe a border could be put around both items, but I don't know how to do that.

The WiAOC logo doesn't show in IE, only in Firefox.  :-(    (Teresa)

I had a look, it seems these come with logos or don't clearly indicate count DOWN, can you embed one here? (Vance, Apr 24)

How about these ones?  (daf)

Aiden has added two more variations for the convergence logo. Could you take a look and vote so that we can add it when the call for participation is out? Thanks. Carla (april 9th).

Call for Participation

Dennis Oliver, Robert Squires, Vance Stevens, Nina Liakos, Moira Hunter - The CfP was agreed on April 11 and posted to the Ning: http://webheadsinaction.ning.com/profiles/blogs/call-for-participation.  It would help if anyone sending it out can please write the destination at the CfP page

In the last week, it would be helpful to email lists again and remind them of participation.  I'll send a template out to the Webheads list

Help system

Aiden (helping out the presenters, help in uploading ppt files, presenter's wiki, etc)

BJBerquist has agreed that we can use Tapped In as our Helpdesk portal.

Sedat is happy to take part in Online Helpdesk team. Moreover, I can help you to organize the helpdesk team using a wiki page.

Vance has created a Helpdesk Wiki Signup Page here

It would be great to populate the above page.  Would you visit and sign up and encourage others to do so?  You can multitask (be at tapped in AND a presentation)

WiZiQ - Nellie: I would be more than happy to set up and embed the urls, ppts, bios, descriptions of the sessions and Sedat would be most welcome to help me get the information if necessary. I would be ready to mentor and support presenters.

One thing we've had in the past is some kind of mentor system for presenters who need an assist, including being a moderator at their session (Vance) I can also work as a moderator for some sessions on WiZiQ or Elluminate (I think, you mean coaching Vance). (Sedat) Yes, thanks Sedat (vance reply) and I see now that Elizabeth Hanson Smith has been offering help in this area on the To-Do List.  It's substantial help, so be sure and look at what she wrote (in purple, bottom of the page)

Teresa is available to help in the mentor system and as a moderator (during her waking hours  ;-)

Last time, we set up a list for mentors/coaches/moderators for the different web conferencing platforms used.  It worked really well.  I can do this again for Elluminate and other platforms.  Moira (16.4.09)

No one has requested any help.  Still we need people to go in and sign themselves up as moderators for sessions that have none so far.  I'll take up slack where I can (Vance)

From Jay Cross at LearnTrends

Hints for Elluminate moderators posted to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMrqMle2lTI (a bit here specific to LearnTrends, thus not for general usage)

This is better, but envisages tight moderator control :-((:

Still it shows the features ... Kim Caise overview for Elluminate moderators

http://learntrends.ning.com/forum/topics/instructions-for-elluminate

These are good also as illustrations of how we could create webcasts .. anyone?? (Vance)

PR (Public Relations) and Liaison

LT live sessions - Aiden (msg sent LT April 11; Vance reserved room in calendar)

Worldbridges (Vance is in touch with Jeff Lebow, next planning session around 1600 GMT Sunday Apr 12)

Hope Kandel has set up two rooms for us and I have the URL's - I'll put them at the schedule (Vance)

TappedIn - Sedat (blurb sent to BJB for newsletter April 10)

APACAL - Vance (posted a msg to their forum April 10)

Vance also needs to write free "sponsors" on our logo list and see if they want to be a part of this again this year (and should we display their logo as before; letters sent to above and Knowplace - need to write Alado, not sure about DiscoverE, DimDim, what about WiZiQ?

Rita may contact the WIZIQ people to ask, if no one has done so (?)Also available to be at TI /WIZIQ/Elluminate) - I mentioned that I had already done so. :) but I have also been contacted by Rita.

Rita: Have contacted NellieD, she'll keep me posted re WIZIQ. I can also be at Elluminate, is there a list/timetable already available for Elluminate sessions? Have seen and added name at TI ;-)

[Jagdeep Singh Pannu @WiZiQ]: Hi dear Webheads, we shall be happy to support you on WIAOC and any further events. You can directly get in touch with me if you ever need support from WiZiQ (mailto: jpannu@gmail.com; skype: pannu04) Please let me know if you want us to provide you with a premium account (@ no charge) to support more than 50 attendees in a session. The premium account also has some other benefits like recording retention etc. Thank's Nellie! for inviting me to WIAOC.

Liaison: Webcast Academy

Jose Rodriguez and Doug Symington have both indicated they are on task and on the team - thx! guys (Vance).  They will organize attending sessions and streaming them from Elluminate, SL, etc.

We need a final touch-base with these fine folks

Volunteers needed to help editing and rendering MP3 recordings from Elluminate sessions

Archives: Jeff Lebow says we can archive at http://webheadsinaction.org.  Jose has agreed to manage the process, but not to do all the work.  For that we need a team of volunteers to run recordings through Audacity & etc.  Anyone? Add names here ....

Keynotes committee

Barbara Dieu, Dennis Oliver, Vance Stevens, Carla Arena, Moira Hunter, Robert Squires (this committee has essentially done its work though there are a few loose ends - One KN'r needs to confirm time; I have written to last holdout to accept invitation or not (she probably didn't see the first invitation).  Keynote presenters are listed here

Keynotes Session Facilitators

Michael Coghlan

Barbara Dieu

Teresa

Vance, of course

Moira Hunter

We need more facilitators for the keynote sessions. (carla) I (Nellie) would be glad to moderate/facilitate on WiZiQ if needed.

I'll sign up for any not taken over the next few days - Bee looks like our official emcee :-) (Vance)

Portals

Vance Stevens (Maintaining web 1.0 links from webheads.info and wiaoc.org; also administering webheadsinaction.ning.com)

Webheadsinaction.org - (Is anyone here comfortable with Drupal? Jeff will pitch in, Jose will manage audio uploads and podcasting)

Portal: Wiki Carla Arena, Vance Stevens (great job, Carla!)

Proposals submission and scheduling system

What about readers?

Vance has prepared a schedule here: http://wiaoc09.pbwiki.com/schedule

(we won't be taking proposals this year, people will be entering them directly on the schedule above, except that we do need some oversight I think.  Suggestions?
Sedat: I read many proposals for WIAOC 2007 and I was glad to be one of the readers. I can also read for this event if I am needed.

Rita is also willing to help read proposals.

Guidelines for unConvergence

Guidelines (can we use/twitch the old guidelines to minimize work?

Can we also specify which guidelines are we referring to here?

I'm (Aiden) willing to write something.  - Aiden, start something like what you had in mind and link it from the sidebar, when we see where you're going with it we can pitch in ... Moira has written me about this and was planning to put something in the ning ... (but got busy, Vance)

Alternative spaces: Second Life

Yes, a SL strand. Graham has also agreed to collaborate in this. (Daf)

Dennos? Nergiz: I can help with SL if there is need.

The Muvenation coordinator,  Margarita Pérez-García, in SL, has kindly offered one of their sims to carry out sessions. I am contacting other people to have more spaces: Languagelab and the University of Essex have also offered their sims to hold sessions.  We already have 8 sessions (added to the schedules) about and from SL - more coming.  I have created a page for the SL-strand: http://wiaoc09.pbwiki.com/SL-strand where I have posted instructions for newbies as well as the sessions that will take place in SL.

We have 10 presentations in SL and more coming soon.

Alternative spaces:  Unconference track

Michael Coghlan

Teresa doesn't know what this is exactly, but is available to help Michael. Always a pleasure to work with you, Michael!  :-)

I would like to take part in preparation; however, I am still confused about which part I can be more helpful. I can take part in any of these committees.

Hi everybody, as I have posted in the Ning, I would like to do something about SL. It could be a SL strand, with different events (tours, workshops, round tables, posters, whatever). Graham has agreed to help me in the organization of these events. What do you all think?

Saying yes to call. Although i can hardly do something worthwhile in the presence of stellar figures like Vance, Rita, Dennis, Nina and Robert. My two cents :)

Daf-- Could you also find us some help files for Second Life? I can put them on our Coaching/Mentoring page for presenters also. -- Elizabeth

Are we going to prepare an evaluation survey for the un-convergence? I tried to add a cell with this on this page, but when I click on edit, half the page shows blank.
